We are very excited to share the winners of our inaugural Kitchen Contest and Bill Algier Award recipient.  At Bentwood Luxury Kitchens we are proud to have a strong dealer network from coast to coast representing both the Bentwood and Harmoni cabinetry brands.  Our goal was to launch a contest that recognizes the best project designs within six categories from our talented dealer network. We could not be more thrilled with the results!

To our Dealer Network, thank you for taking the time to submit your contest project entries. This was a very important initiative for the Bentwood companies in growing dealer relationships and featuring our talented designer network.  More exciting things are in store for the future ahead.  

To our judges, thank you for carefully reviewing the project submissions to determine our six category winners and the recipient of the Bill Algier Award.  Laura Umansky of Laura U Design Collective, Mark Williams of Mark Williams Design, and Bill Algier, a recently retired Kitchen Designer, upheld the industry’s gold standards.

Bentwood Traditional Category Winner 

Congratulations to Emily Martin of Bentwood of Dallas for her luxurious white kitchen project.  Emily fully embraced this remodel project and the client’s vision to brighten up the space and connect the backyard views.   

“We didn’t want a boring white kitchen, so we incorporated polished stainless steel drawer fronts on either side of the range, which ties in the polished nickel hardware,” Emily shared.   

So many lovely details and premium materials came together in this expansive kitchen and butler’s pantry that made for a winning timeless design.  See more of this Bentwood Beauty  

Bentwood Non-Traditional Category Winner 

Congratulations to Nicole Bradford of Elegant Cabinetry and Design for her dynamic Mountain Contemporary project.   

“The original location of the kitchen was in a small area of the home that did not allow much opportunity to expand. The decision was made to incorporate the existing living room into the kitchen resulting in a space that was four times larger than the original,” Nicole explained.   

Extra attention to detail with cabinetry grain matching, stone fabrication, and material selections were just some of the outstanding elements making this remodel a big winner.  See more of this Bentwood Stunner 

Solving such a design challenge along with superb execution, clearly communicated Nicole’s thoughtful transformation. The judges named Nicole’s project the best overall design of the 2023 Kitchen Contest and honored her with the Bill Algier Award. This special dealer award celebrates the talent, vision, and gold standard that Kitchen Designer, Bill Algier exercised throughout his career and valuable insight he shared with our factory team.

Bentwood Outside the Kitchen Category Winner 

Congratulations to Nicole Bradford of Elegant Cabinetry and Design for her Contemporary En Suite project.  Updating the existing primary bedroom, bath, and closet was achieved with custom cabinetry flexibility and a modern door style.   

To achieve the final design, Nicole said, “We used custom tall cabinets to build an exposed custom closet.  We added paneling to the back of the cabinets to create a bed wall and floating vanities to complete the design.”

Harmoni Traditional Kitchen Category Winner 

Congratulations to Kevin Roy of KRB Kitchen and Bath Design Center for his elegant remodel project.   

“The objective of the overall design was to make the space blend into one cohesive workspace,” Kevin shared.   

Removing a dividing wall separating the kitchen and dining room created this attractive new space. The star of the kitchen was a Bertazzoni custom cream-colored range with classic brass hardware for a luxurious element.

Harmoni Non-Traditional Category Winner 

Congratulations to Lisa Tobias of Tobias Design for her clean-lined Modern project.   

“The simplicity of this space evokes an overall calm yet there are surprises at every turn. There are elements of rustic, concrete-looking laminates juxtaposing the formality and elegance of the walnut wood,” Lisa described.

Harmoni Outside the Kitchen Category Winner 

Congratulations to Marine Potapinski of Greenberg Design Gallery for her striking project.  A black-and-white narrative included black cabinetry utilized in the mudroom and laundry for the desired updated look.  

“The result was a beautiful space in a high-traffic area of the home that the client was exceedingly pleased with,” noted Marine.
