Bentwood Luxury Kitchens set out to create a door style that was unique and worthy for the residential cabinetry business. Not only did they achieve that goal, but they also positioned themselves for a successful and bright future.
Product Story and Broad Appeal
So why is the Nouveau door so popular among the hundreds of door styles Bentwood has designed over our 35-year history?
First, it was inspired by the shaker door, something the cabinetry industry understands very well and is familiar with. With some serious upgrades, Bentwood Luxury Kitchens transformed basic residential cabinetry into luxury cabinetry with a distinctive style.
The integrated aluminum handle was the significant design element that offered a fresh look– especially applied to a traditional shaker door style. A dimensional effect was created that appealed to a broader audience for the growing “Transitional” segment of the cabinetry business.
Product History and Success
Once Bentwood Luxury Kitchens introduced the Nouveau door to the marketplace in 2005, it quickly became associated with the company and provided national exposure. Also at that time, a key account came along, Expo Design Center, which was the perfect dealer to showcase our newest door style.
Well, we all know in 2008 the housing market crashed and our friends at Expo Design Center were a casualty of that moment in history. During these business building years, Bentwood Owners, Randy Pittard and Kevin Bryant experienced national success and made many industry friends. Their hard work and relationship-building paid off big, turning these relationships into the beginnings of our national dealer network.
Continued Popularity and Expanded Offerings
Over the years, the Nouveau door style continues to remain on the top seller list and is now available in our Harmoni™ line per the urging of our dealers. With that 2021 announcement came newly expanded offerings in paint, wood species, and stain. The integrated hardware is now offered in matte black, a key trend in the marketplace.
With the Farmhouse white and black theme being so strong, we developed a “pearl” stain on white oak that is an elegant version of “white”. Combined with the new black integrated hardware on the Nouveau door, a fresh sophisticated look is created gathering much attention.
Another new stain finish available on white oak is the “Seagrass” stain— a popular light stain that is lighter than our “natural stain”. Warm natural tones are still very relevant in the home interior design market and this combination is an instant winner!

What’s so exciting about this door style is the design versatility and the dealer success it’s still producing. We celebrate the Nouveau door for good reason, it is a clear winner and has earned its place in our product hall of fame!
