A hot topic in the kitchen industry is the trend to see “what is behind the cabinetry”.
We are sharing some of our most popular hardware examples that offer “open” and “closed” flexibility.
At Bentwood Luxury Kitchens, we manufacture cabinetry that stores, organizes, and functions for real life. Our Dealer network of kitchen professionals can guide you in selecting the best cabinetry hardware for your next home project.
Pocket Doors
Here we peek inside the cabinetry and see a completely closed option that supports the Modern Kitchen designed for the Bentwood of Austin showcase. Kitchen Designer, Shawna Roorda knew the importance of this trend and wanted to include it in her design.
The pocket door is demonstrated as a smart design option at The Marketplace ATX.
Variations of Pocket Doors
A soft close pocketing pantry door was the right option for this Colorado vacation home.
It is also lockable when the homeowners rent it out and keeps personal items private.
For visual design cohesiveness, a matching door was created for the homeowners who wanted to keep the bar “hidden.”
We love this kitchen designed with offset pivot hardware for a Speakeasy theme.
Here, a view into the bar reveals there is more to the design story. Handsome black cabinetry and mirrors are key players.
Bi-fold Doors
At the Kips Bay Palm Beach House, the Bi-fold door was a smart decision for this Galley kitchen.
Saving space with easy access is what a well-designed kitchen is all about.
Kitchen Designer, Steve Karp was on a recent project where these Bi-fold doors were a great option for the cook zone.
This Family Room included heavy-duty Bi-fold Pocket Doors to conceal a large TV. The decorative sphere mullions were a repeating design element from the kitchen that solves a problem but in a beautiful way. Emily Martin of Bentwood of Dallas was the Kitchen Designer.
An Organized Tall Pantry
A great example of “what is behind the cabinetry,” is this Caterer’s Kitchen from our dealer friends at The Cottage located in Shreveport, Louisiana.
This includes vertical storage on top with roll out drawers on the bottom for easy access behind one single door.
Here we have an organized and thoughtful Tall Pantry design for a Galley kitchen. Again, vertical storage on top with roll out drawers on the bottom behind double doors. Bentwood of Houston, shows a great design example for real-life home chefs.

Wrap Up
Pocket doors and other unique hardware offer space-saving alternatives for Modern Kitchen Design, allowing for better flow and accessibility in tight spaces. They provide flexibility, easily concealing or revealing entire sections of your kitchen at will.
Tall pantries make the most of vertical space, offering ample storage without sacrificing floor area. Meanwhile, automated lift-up and tilt-up hardware bring a touch of high-tech convenience, making hard-to-reach upper cabinets more accessible than ever.
